A CASED 54-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-ACTION TRIGGER-COCKING REVOLVER, MODEL 'TRANTER'S' PATENT', serial no. 3868T,
circa 1856, with blued octagonal 6in. barrel, the top-strap signed 'CONWAY, BLACKFRIARS ST MANCHESTER' within a border and scroll engraved panel, engraved band at muzzle, dove-tailed blade fore-sight, plain cylinder with engraved band to leading edge, solid borderline and scroll engraved frame, 'Y' shaped safe behind the cylinder to the left hand side, spur-less hammer, chequered one-piece walnut grip with spur for thumb-web, engraved iron butt-cap, 'Tranters' patent double-trigger cocking mechanism, scroll engraved trigger-guard bow and detachable loading lever mounted to the left hand side of barrel marked 'TRANTER'S PATENT', the whole retaining a good amount of original blued finish and TOGETHER WITH a period oak case compartmented and lined in green baize with the trade-label for 'R. ADAMS' and containing a couple of period accessories including a bag shaped powder flask and a brass double cavity 'TRANTER'S PATENT' bullet-mould, the case in fine condition
