AN 1827 PATTERN BRITISH NAVAL OFFICERS DRESS-SWORD SIGNED 'GIEVE MATTHEWS & SEAGROVE LTD, no visible serial number,
circa 1939, with 31 1/2in. etched 'Wilkinson' style blade signed at the forte with inlet poincon proof-mark to reverse (some isolated corrosion spots), gilded brass half-basket hilt with a Kings crown and fouled anchor device, white shagreen grip, lion's mask pommel, the turn-down inner guard engraved 'F. LEWIS SMITH RN', TOGETHER WITH its bullion sword knot and gilded brass mounted black leather scabbard (gilding possibly renewed throughout)
