A CASED 11-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING-GUN SIGNED 'JOSEPH MANTON', the barrels serial no. 2461,
circa 1850, cut down to coaching-carbine length and probably spuriously signed, with re-browned, shortened 24 3/4in. barrels, the underside with the serial number and 'FINE TWISTED STUBS' together with 'W. ELLIS', the top-rib marked 'JOSEPH MANTON LONDON', engraved rib-end with platinum line and vents, border and scroll engraved back-action locks signed 'JOSEPH MANTON' around the rear of the slab-sided hammers, bolted safes, walnut half-stock, iron furniture, the trigger-guard tang and inside of fore-end serial numbered '4612' and replacement ramrod, TOGETHER WITH a period mahogany brass-mounted storage case, compartmented and lined in burgundy velvet (faded), reproduction 'Manton' parchment trade-label, and containing a number of accessories including a spring clamp, a powder and a shot-flask
