30in. damascus barrels (damage to left muzzle), rib gold-inlaid 'NEEDHAM'S PATENT', action incorporating Needham patent rotating single bolt sidelever patent, patent no. 1544 of 1862, use number 381, the fences with external cams half-cocking the hammers as the sidelever is pushed down, slim fences and side bolsters, non-rebounding sidelocks with low-spurred pinfire hammers, front trigger bent, permanently attached fore-end with profiled horn finial, beaded border and bold acanthus scroll engraving, 14in. stock including chequered steel buttplate (repair at heel), weight 7lb. 10oz.
