for 1853, with 7 1/2in. octagonal barrel, the top-flat signed in script 'ADDRESS COL COLT LONDON', London proofs, plain cylinder with roll engraved scene, open iron colour-hardened frame, silver plated brass back-strap and round-backed trigger-guard, smooth walnut one-piece grip, hinged under-barrel rammer, traces of finish in sheltered areas, COMPLETE WITH its manufacturers oak case, compartmented and lined in blue baize, 'Colt's' instruction label to inside of lid also marked 'SALE OF CONDEMNED STORES BY SEALED PROPOSALS' and including an 'L' shaped nipple key, iron ball and bullet mould, Eley cap-tin and a large bag-shaped powder flask signed 'Sykes Patent.', the outside of case stamped near lock 'S. ISAAC CAMPBELL & CO' within a bordered cartouche
