A CASED PAIR OF .650 FLINTLOCK OFFICERS PISTOLS, no visible serial numbers,
circa 1788, with re-browned hooked-breech octagonal 9in. barrels, small blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight to the engraved top-tangs, gold line and London proofs at breech, flat border engraved locks signed 'MANTON' and engraved with a seated hunting dog at tail, rainproof pans, roller bearings to the frizzen-springs, border engraved 'Manton' style hammers, walnut full-stocks with chequered bag-shaped butts, engraved iron butt-caps, set-triggers, engraved iron trigger-guard bows, replacement horn-tipped ramrods and later white-metal reinforcing bands to the fore-end tips (the pistols possibly reconverted from percussion) TOGETHER WITH a period stained oak storage case, re-lined in green baize and containing a number of period accessories including a bag-shaped embossed flask, a mahogany loading rod, a scissors mould, a turn-screw and a reproduction trade-label (loose)
