A RARE .577 CAPPING BREECH-LOADING CONVERTED PERCUSSION SERVICE RIFLE OF WAR DEPT. TRIALS TYPE, serial no. 4,
circa 1859, with blued 36 3/4in. sighted rifled barrel, the breech-end with War Dept. inspection marks and sold out of service marks, tip-up breech-block, dated lock marked 'ENFIELD' and with 'VR' cypher, walnut three-quarter stock, the right hand side of butt with circular 'ENFIELD' stamp, brass furniture, three blued iron barrel-bands, sling mounts, and iron ramrod, the whole expertly refinished and in fine condition
