French issue circa 1865, with round 6 1/4in. barrel signed 'E. LEFAUCHEUX BRTE SGDG A PARIS', octagonal breech-section, plain cylinder with rear ratchet locking, open iron frame with domed recoil shield and hinged loading gate, smooth walnut grip with iron heel-plate, guarded trigger and plunge ejector-rod mounted to the right hand side of barrel
