circa 1860, with re-blued octagonal 4in. barrel, nickel crescent fore-sight, sighting groove to the top-strap, the left hand side of barrel marked blued side-hammer, 'ALLEN & WHEELOCK WORCESTER MASS ALLEN'S PATENTS JAN 13 1857, SEPT 7 1858', plain cylinder with roll-engraved scene, solid iron frame with three sideplate screws, flared smooth walnut grips and hinged trigger-guard forming the rammer lever
