Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed on 25th August 1900 to pair with gun 20670 (made in 1889) for L.G. Agar at a cost of 29 guineas

The current vendor has kindly forwarded us the provenance he was supplied with when he purchased the gun. It reads as follows:

"Purchased in 1937 by Mrs Clube for her husband, Group Captain Clube
501 Squadron, from a fellow officer, "Robin" Hood, who was hard up at
the time. He later regretted the sale. This happened at R.A.F. Filton, near Bristol. Local landowners entertained officers and offered them shooting, including the Earl of Lancaster on his estate near Scunthorpe.
Group Captain Clube died in August 1994. It was always his favourite
gun although he had others by top makers, at one time a pair of
Purdeys. He left the gun to his son, who sadly died of leukaemia. It
then went to his grandson who had no interest in it and sold it in Eldreds auction rooms. I purchased it there on 25th. October 1994. Lot 186".
