LONDON AND DUBLIN', open sights and folding leaf sight with white metal inlaid sight lines and marked for 100 and 200 yards, ramped blade fore-sight, tubes engraved 'CASE 400 BORE MAGNUM 110GRS NO. 6 POWDER. CANNELURED BULLET 260GRS.';
extra 28-bore shot barrels 28in. nitro reproved and with matt Churchill-rib, tubes engraved ' BARRELS BY HENRY MORRIS. ST. MARY'S ROW. BIRMINGHAM', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 3/4 choke;
additional 8x57 IRS nitro reproved chopperlump barrels with matt sight rib, open sights and folding leaf sight, ramp-mounted bead fore-sight, rib engraved 'VAGSLAND & CO - NORWAY', the breech end mounted with a Zeiss Diavari Z 1,25-4x24 telescopic sight in quickly-detachable mounts;
proportional treble-grip action with Rigby & Bissell patent rising third bite, patent no. 1141 of 1879, use number 468, carved leaf fences, slender toplever, automatic safety with button release and gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, removable striker discs, dipped-edge lockplates, chequered front trigger, fully engraved with bold foliate scroll engraving on a partially matted background, 14 1/2in. figured pistolgrip stock with sling swivels, horn pistolgrip-cap and chequered steel buttplate, fore-end with Rigby patent screw-grip fore-end fastener and Rigby patent ejector / non-ejector selector nut, weight 8lb. 9oz. (.450/.400 barrels), 5lb. 12oz. (28-bore shot barrels) and 9lb. 14oz. (8x57IRS barrels), with an unfitted universal alloy flight case
Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the rifle was completed circa 1891 /2 in .450 calibre, one of a batch made covering serial numbers 16121-30.
The name of the company ordering them is unclear and the entry is undated, but serial number 16131 was ordered in 1892.
