A .450 CAPPING BREECH-LOADING CARBINE, MODEL 'MONKEY-TAIL', serial no. 17920,
dated for 1882, with 25in. barrel, the breech end marked 'WHITWORTH PATENT', block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, lift-up trapdoor action stamped 'MANUFACTURED BY WESTLEY RICHARDS' together with the 'triangle' trademark, plain lockplate signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS & Co.', the 'triangle' trademark containing the date '1882' stamped to the tail, walnut full-stock with iron furniture, iron barrel-band and iron clearing rod
