N.M. LESOINNE & PIRLOT FILS, LIEGE
A FINE & RARE 12mm PERCUSSION BREAK-BARREL BREECH-LOADING SPORTING RIFLE, no visible serial number,
Belgian, circa 1840, with 29 1/4in. browned twist sighted barrel rifled with seven grooves and with silver and gold-inlaid signature 'A.M. LESOINNE & PIRLOT FILS A LIEGE', colour-hardened breech engraved with a sunburst and foliage and with gold-inlaid initials 'FH', the barrel pivoting at the breech on a hinge-pin with exposed trunnions, colour-hardened action engraved with foliage and a bold running border with a further five exposed trunnions and two pierced platinum-lined vents, adjustable rear-sight, the underside with barrel-release catch, colour-hardened detented back-action lock decorated en suite, burr-walnut stock with raised shaped cheek-piece and chequered double-grip, single-set trigger, blued butt-plate and scrolled trigger-guard engraved en suite with the action, iron sling eyes, the whole in fine order and retaining much original finish throughout.
