first quarter of the 20th century and gunsmith produced, with approximately 34in. steel shaft engraved with a half-inch scale, adjustable ball-bearing end-piece, loose conical floating guide, brass circular analogue dial with iron pointer, the dial engraved with a thousandths of an inch register and stamped with various increments of interest to a gunsmith, the whole contained within an amateur produced period triangular wood box with lock and key
