A CLOSED-FACE IRON HELMET, MOSTLY LATE 16th CENTURY,
restored most probably mid 19th century and possibly for a funery achievement, the later hinged face-plate pierced with irregular holes and a small 'mouth' slot, twin narrow rectangular 'sights' with rolled lower edges, rolled edge visor attached by six brass rivets, late 16th century two-piece skull with central comb (provision for hanging hook, missing) and lift-up chin-plate with articulated plate neck-guard (two, possibly more neck-plates replaced) and side mounted hook closure (some heavy cleaning and light age cracking throughout)
