circa 1866, with octagonal 4in. barrel, bead fore-sight, full-length sighting groove to the top-strap, one piece iron frame with front-mounted release-catch for the flat-fronted cylinder-rod, fully fluted six-shot cylinder for the early cartridge with detachable ratchet indexing back-plate, polished hammer and trigger, chequered walnut one-piece grip, iron heel-cap and loose lanyard ring, the whole bearing traces of original finish
