A .230 (MORRIS) SINGLE-SHOT CADET-RIFLE, MODEL 'FRANCOTTE'S PATENT', serial no. 3430, ref. no. 1245,
circa 1912, with 27 1/2in. sighted barrel, plain blued receiver with the August Francotte monogram within a shield on the left hand side together with a circle containing 'FRANCOTTE'S PATENT' and the number '66693', take-down lever on the right hand side, 'Martini' style dropping breech, walnut straight-hand butt-stock drilled at wrist for a peep-sight (missing), iron heel-plate, iron under-lever, walnut three-quarted fore-end with iron barrel-band and nose-cap, provision for clearing rod (missing) and retaining its Small Arms School Corps weapons collection plate applied to the left hand side of butt and identity disc attached to the trigger-guard
