28in. nitro reproved barrels, rib gold-inlaid '1' at the breech end, inscription indistinct, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, toplever gold-inlaid '1', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, possible repair to tang, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, chequered front trigger, fences with carved shell motifs, bold floral and acanthus scroll engraving with beaded borders, the makers name in elaborate cartouches, the underside with 'ROYAL EJECTOR. PATENT 20979', bright finish, 14 3/4in. highly-figured replacement stock, weight 6lb. 3oz.
Provenance: Tha makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was ordered as a 'No.2 Royal' On the 9th February 1893 and finished at the factory in April 1894. The records are annotated with two names, a Major Symonds and a Captain Neilson it is unclear as to which placed the original order
