circa 1905, with heavy octagonal 33 1/2in. barrel, the top signed 'SOMMERHALDER AARAU' (obscured by rear-sight), mounting rail at muzzle with block and blade fore-sight, large cut vacant dove-tail behind, long dovetailed rail at breech with micro adjustable rear-sight, plain 'Martini'-style dropping block receiver with grooved loading ramp, Tyrolean roach-bellied walnut butt-stock for the right-handed shooter, 'Swiss'-style iron heel-plate, elaborately shaped trigger guard bow with full pistol-grip spur forming the cocking-lever, replacement wood fore-end with finger-grooves and complete with a leather basket-weave sling
