Continental, circa 1720 with later conversion to percussion, with damascus 38in. barrel, carved raised tapering sighting-rib for most of its length with applied silver fore-sight blade, the breech-end carved with over-lapping lobes and inlaid in silver with a seated figure within a trophy of arms above an entwined monogram with acanthus scroll surround, plain breech-block and top-tang, slightly curved and radiused lock engraved with scrollwork, similar silver inlaid monogram forwards of the hammer (losses to inlay), engraved hammer, walnut full-stock with chequered wrist, brass butt-plate, the spur engraved with a recumbent gentleman with his hunting dog beneath a moulded foliate finial, moulded and engraved trigger-guard bow and finial, original horn-tipped wood ramrod with worm-end and fitted for sling, iron surfaces lightly frosted
