A SCARCE 15-BORE PERCUSSION SINGLE-SHOT SERVICE PISTOL, UNSIGNED, MODEL '1820 MILITARY', no visible serial number.
converted from flint and dated for 1822, with 8 1/4in. plain round barrel 'in the white', the breech stamped with the date, a conversion mark and a Dutch inspector's mark, the top-tang engraved 'M1820', flat bevel-edged lock stamped with inspector's marks, radiused tail, remains of the original brass pan, oversized ring hammer chequered on the inner-surface, walnut half-stock with bag-shaped butt, full length iron backstrap adjoining the tang and brass butt-cap, brass trigger-guard bow, brass twin-banded nose-cap and captive iron stirrup ramrod, the whole in fine condition
