AN UNUSUAL 70-BORE FLINTLOCK SASH-PISTOL OF SMALLER SIZE, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number,
possibly German, circa 1730, with triple-staged 4 5/8in. barrel banded at the intersections, moulded ring at muzzle, the breech-section with longitudinal flutes extending along the top-tang, three in brass finish, brass bevel-edged border engraved flat lockplate, the centre engraved with a seated female figure and a dog, the lock-tail with a rabbit, engraved hammer and frizzen (hammer broken off at neck but present), walnut full-stock lightly carved around the furniture and lock, the grip with applied carving of a moor's head in the Dutch style (possibly associated), the carving accented with bone or staghorn, sparsely engraved brass furniture, solid sideplate engraved with two dogs chasing a hare, faceted trigger-guard and turned ramrod pipes with wood ramrod
