A 13-BORE PERCUSSION SINGLE-SHOT MATCH-RIFLE, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number,
German, dated for 1812 and converted from flint, with heavy slightly swamped deeply rifled 34in. barrel, dove-tailed brass blade fore-sight, rear-sight with one standing and one folding leaf, the breech-flats engraved with tongues of foliage (renewed), borderline engraved breech-block and top-tang, slightly curved and radiused borderline engraved lock, blued hammer, walnut full-stock lightly carved along the ramrod channel, the rear-end and front of lock and sideplate enhanced by carved single-line scrolls, raised cheek-piece with en-suite scrolls, patch-box with fluted sliding walnut lid, brass heel-plate with shaped-edge top-spur, skip-chequered wrist with blued adjustable peep-sight, shaped brass side-nail escutcheons, moulded brass trigger-guard with raised finger-tang, horn fore-end tip, turned brass ramrod pipes and probable replacement wood ramrod, exposed iron surfaces brushed bright with traces of mild shallow pitting
