A 12-BORE SIDELOCK EJECTOR, no visible serial number,
ex-serial number 25553, 26 1/2in. in the white replacement nitro barrels by another in 1979, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. full choke in both, in the white replacement action, automatic safety, original lockplates with gold-inlaid cocking-indicators and bold Royal scroll engraving, replacement triggerguard, 15in. well-figured replacement stock, replacement fore-end (in the white), ejectors require regulating, weight 6lb. 14oz.
Provenance: The vendor has kindly furnished us with an explanation as to the unusual state in which this gun remains.
Formerly the property of his Grandfather, family history has it that following an unfortunate encounter with a combine harvester, the gun was rendered unusable. His grandfather was good friends with Holland & Holland actioner who took pity on the gun and as a project, agreed to make a new action and fore-end for the gun in his spare time. He in turn had the gun stocked and re-barrelled and the gun was then returned to the owner for the final finishing work to be completed. It was consigned to the gun cabinet, and due to the purchase of a trio of Purdey guns, remained untouched from that date forward.
