circa 1860, with tapering heavy 33in. barrel signed 'J RIGBY & CO, MAKER LONDON' (faint, rubbed), short-ribs at top and sides at breech, dove-tailed block at muzzle for adjustable fore-sight (replaced with plain blade from another), no provision for rear-sight, fully scroll engraved top-tang with provision for vernier tang-sight removed, border and scroll engraved bar-action lock signed 'W & J RIGBY' with the back-to-back 'double R' monogram to tail and sliding safe forwards of the hammer, chequered walnut pistol-grip half-stock, later 'AGP' diopter rear-sight fitted to wrist, iron furniture (corroded and cleaned) including chequered heel-plate, trigger-guard bow, tang and finial, moulded horn fore-end tip and no provision for ramrod, the whole with some mild surface and patches of deeper pitting throughout
