circa 1856, with 19in. tapering round barrel, block and blade fore-sight, rear-sight with one standing and three folding leaves, receiver with slanted breech-block, 'Maynard's tape-primer mechanism on the right hand side of action, the trapdoor marked 'EDWARD MAYNARD PATENTEE 1845', walnut butt-stock, brass patch-box and heel-plate, saddle-ring mounted to left hand side, walnut splinter fore-end and brass barrel-band
Other Notes: Despite having a brass barrel-band (as opposed to the usual iron example), the 19in. barrel marks this as a British Carbine
