circa 1860, with 28in. twist-iron barrels engraved in script on the wide concave raised top-rib 'THO'S LOUGH BERWICK', bead fore-sight, Birmingham proofs, the rib-end engraved with a partridge beneath a tree, fully acanthus scroll engraved extra-long fan-tailed top-tang engraved with a partridge within a circular border, border and game-scene engraved back action locks signed 'THOS LOUTH' beneath the hammers, acanthus scroll engraved hammers with central devices of hollow diamonds within the pattern and dolphin heads (one spur repaired), walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, iron furniture including heel-plate with engraved top-spur, trigger-guard tang with applied bow, engraved ramrod throat (period ramrod, one thimble missing) TOGETHER WITH a later pine storage case, compartmented and lined in brown velvet and containing a period powder-flask signed 'SYKES', a leather shot-flask and an Eley Bros cap-tin
