circa 1860, with browned 31in. barrels, the top-rib signed 'CHARLES LANCASTER, 151 NEW BOND STREET, LONDON' together with the number '2', bead fore-sight, colour-hardened breech with flambé poker engraving to the rib-end, platinum line and vents, carved fences, fully scroll engraved top-tang, borderline and scroll engraved colour-hardened bar-action locks with scrolled signature 'LANCASTER, LONDON', scroll engraved dolphin-headed hammers, chequered walnut half-stock (expertly refreshed), blued iron furniture including heel-plate, the top-spur engraved with a dog chasing a running pheasant and the number '2', trigger-guard tang with game-bird and scroll engraving, the bow with a pair of hunting dogs and splinter fore-end with moulded horn tip, the whole retaining much original finish and colour to the metalwork
