Provenance: We have kindly been supplied with the following information from the vendor regarding the history of the gun:

"it belonged to my Grandfather,Ted Bowton (my Mother's Father who was born in 1878 - the same year as the gun!) he owned a small boatyard in Burham and at one time had an oyster laying around Creeksea. I don't know when he acquired the gun but I always remember it being in the corner of the boatyard office when I was a small child (I'm now 80) it was subsequently passed on to my uncle Owen Bowton (Mother's brother) and then passed on to me. I can't give you an exact date but I was in my mid twenties, so I've had it something like 55 years"
