circa 1855, with blued octagonal 3 1/2in. barrel, engraved band and dove-tailed barleycorn fore-sight at muzzle, scroll engraving at breech-end, borderline and scroll engraved top-strap signed 'E. BARNES & CO LONDON' with standing notch rear-sight, bright borderline engraved cylinder with engraved rope band to leading edge, borderline and scroll engraved blued frame, hinged safe to right hand side, spurred hammer, chequered walnut grip with engraved iron pommel-cap, engraved trigger-guard bow with double-action trigger (return spring at fault) and Tranters Patent articulated rammer mounted to the left hand side of frame and barrel, the whole retaining much original blued finish
