A SCARCE .31 PERCUSSION SINGLE-ACTION PEPPERBOX REVOLVER, no visible serial number,
circa 1849, with 4in. barrel-group carved to resemble ribs between the barrels, the group stamped 'WARRANTED CAST STEEL' and 'STOCKING & CO, WORCESTER' (both rubbed), full nipple-shield with traces of engraving, rounded boxlock action, central hammer with long spur, the side of hammer stamped 'PATENTS SECURED 1848', bag-shaped butt with smooth ivory grips, the whole heavily cleaned with loss to detail
