A 40-BORE PERCUSSION SIDE-HAMMER BOXLOCK TRAVELLING PISTOL, no visible serial number,
circa 1845, with octagonal 3 1/2in. barrel, broad acanthus foliage band engraved around muzzle, bead fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight to the rear of breech, the side of breech signed 'LONDON' in a border engraved panel, platinum plug, squared boxlock action with radiused corners engraved with borders and acanthus foliage, the left hand side signed in an oval 'E.& W. BOND 45 CORNHILL', border and acanthus engraved side-hammer with dolphin head and sliding safety behind, finely chequered walnut bag-shaped butt with border and foliage engraved shaped iron butt-cap, clipped-corner rectangular escutcheon to wrist, engraved iron trigger-guard bow and captive double-ended iron ramrod held on the under-rib by a spring-clip (small loss)
