A SCARCE .69 FLINTLOCK SERVICE-PISTOL SIGNED 'CHARLEVILLE', MODEL 1777', no visible serial no,
circa 1780, with tapering 7 1/4in. round iron barrel marked 'S80' at the breech, the top-tang with 'M1777', rounded brass boxlock action signed 'CHARLEVILLE' together with an 'F' over '80' inspectors mark, brass pan, military hammer, walnut bag-shaped grip with iron back-strap and brass butt-cap, brass asymmetric trigger-guard with original iron ramrod, some heavy cleaning and pitting to hammer and frizzen
