A 38-BORE PERCUSSION RIFLED BELT-PISTOL WITH SPRUNG BAYONET, serial no. '38',
circa 1840, with octagonal turn-off 3 1/4in. rifled barrel (frozen), the top-flat signed 'BLISSETT, LONDON', large number '38' stamped to underside of breech, probably referring to bore, engraved band to muzzle, triangular section sprung bayonet fixed to right hand side released by a sliding catch mounted to the action body, borderline and scroll engraved squared central-hammer boxlock action, sliding safe to the top-tang, finely chequered pistol-grip butt with flared flat heel, the outer edge of heel with engraved silver band, rectangular clipped corner escutcheon to the wrist with a further oval silver escutcheon to the centre of heel, concealed automatic folding trigger and blued spring-steel belt-hook to left hand side of body
