THREE FINE CARVED, ENGRAVED AND INLAID BRASS TSUBA,
all probably 19th century, the first of square form with rounded corners, the front face featuring a prowling tiger carved in relief coming to drink at a flowing stream, the stripes on the body inlaid in gold, the body carved around the side of the tsuba with the hind quarters and tail appearing on the reverse together with a continuation of the stream and a waterfall, both sides signed along both sides of the 'nakago-ana', the second of circular form and deeply chisel engraved with swordsman stalking a demon, the demon escaping through the hole for the 'kozuka', its face appearing on the reverse together with clouds, the last for a wakizashi, of subtle truncated rectangular form with rounded corners, the front engraved with a pond inhabited by nielloed applied waterfowl with gilded beaks and feet and with further applied waterfowl flying amongst clouds above with an applied waxing moon, the whole on a stippled ground, the reverse with one similar waterfowl in flight above flowing water with gilded pebbles and engraved reeds along the shoreline, signed alongside the nakago-ana
