early 19th century, with approximately 73in. shaft and 14in. curved blade, the shaft with carved metal crescent to butt with reinforcing band, the shaft finished in black laquer embedded with mother-of-pearl chippings, three bronze reinforcing bands near the throat with rope-binding beneath, the throat in bronze with pierced heart-shaped motifs, the blade with long tang and short fullers infilled with red paint (blade stained with mild surface corrosion) COMPLETE WITH its black laquered wood 'saya' (chips to laquer) both sides painted with a gold 'mon'
