THREE IRON TSUBA,
possibly all 16th to 17th century, the first of squared lobed form with rounded corners, one side with signature (possibly Nanji Saku) and a raised carving of a twig of blossoming cherry, the reverse with a small raised caving of germinating seeds, both carvings with gold detail, the second, circular, pierced, signed and carved with an oriental dragon around the circumference, the last of square form with rounded corners, beaten undulating background with raised fragments of checker-boards, coins and other devices, most with further raised Japanese characters and traces of gilding
