A STILETTO DAGGER,
probably Italian circa 1650, with narrow 10in. blade of triangular concave form, both sides etched with borders and floral motifs, the squared ricasso etched on both sides with three panels, the outer two en-suite with the blade, the centre panels with an 'I.S.H.' monogram on one side and a Bottony cross on the other, engraved square-section iron guard with turned ball quillions, iron grip swelling at the centre and carved with the mask of a 'green man' on one side and the mask of a Shakesperian gentleman on the reverse, moulded bands to the top and bottom of grip and tea-cosy faceted pommel with further engraving and a flat-topped hexagonal finial
