AN ALEXANDER, SHEFFIELD, LARGE BOWIE-KNIFE WITH NICKEL-PLATED MOUNTS, circa 1865, with 10 3/4in. clip-point blade false edged for all but 2 1/2in., flat forte heavily stamped in large letters 'ALEXANDER' over 'SHEFFIELD', flat nickel-plated cross-guard with crescentic terminals, slab-sided horn grips pinched in the centre and held by three pins, central white-metal 'moustache' escutcheon, grooved bolster to the front and tri-lobed 'crown' pommel, no scabbard
