A SCARCE IVORY-HILTED LUXURY DAGGER, CATALOGUE No. P 496,
circa 1900, with mirror-finished double-edged 5in. spear-point blade, broad ricasso ground on three planes terminating in a decorative 'step', the central panel on one side signed 'JOSEPH ROGERS & SONS, 6 NORFOLK STREET, SHEFFIELD, ENGLAND', scalloped nickel-silver cross-guard, smooth ivory grip with an 'insect wing' carving near the guard and etched with a crest of a griffons head above a wreath with an eagle's wing in its mouth (old age crack to one side of the hilt) TOGETHER WITH its leather belt-scabbard with scalloped edge nickel mounts
