fitted for 27in. barrels (could adapt to 30in.), the interior lined with red baize, central push-button brass lock (key missing), the lid interior with a 'JAMES PURDEY & SONS' trade label together with a 'CHARGES FOR GUN' label with serial No. 20256, the lid exterior with a brass escutcheon and a brass plaque with the monogram 'D.M.B.' straps missing
