AN 18-BORE FLINTLOCK BOXLOCK SASH-PISTOL, SIGNATURE ILLEGIBLE, no visible serial number,
English, circa 1760, with slightly swamped round 7in. barrel, the breech-sides engraved with trophies (rubbed), slab-sided central hammer boxlock action with traces of signature in a banner to both sides, smooth walnut butt with bulbous iron-capped pommel, iron escutcheon to the wrist, iron trigger-guard bow with traces of floral engraving and replacement brass ramrod pipes and ramrod, the whole heavily cleaned with surface frosting
