JAMES DIXON AND SYKES
THREE GOOD POWDER AND SHOT FLASKS,
all circa 1840-50, the first signed 'JAMES DIXON & SONS SHEFFIELD', with a leather-covered iron body, nickel furniture, the nozzle (loose) adjustable to seven ungraduated positions and designed for a large-bore rifle (Riling 1405), the second by the same maker and for shot, with brass three-position nozzle articulated with a 'crab-claw' joint (Riling 1457), the last signed 'SYKES PATENT', re-nickel-plated body engraved with an armourial of a cockerel stood on a wreath, the charger nozzle hinged in the reverse position and adjustable between 2 1/2 and 3 drams (nozzle similar to Riling 1410)
