South African, circa 1790, with heavy, swamped, two-stage 42in. barrel, dove-tail for fore-sight (missing), standing notch rear-sight, solid top-tang, military-style borderline engraved lock signed 'TOWER' and marked with an 'Elephant' trade-mark (frizzen-spring and top-jaw and screw missing), walnut swan-necked full-stock (losses to edge of fore-end), raised cheek-piece, brass furniture and provision for under-barrel ramrod (missing)
