circa 1875, with tapering 21 3/4in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, the nocksform marked 'CARBINE 1 1/2 CASE', plain receiver signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS PATENT, 170 NEW BOND ST LONDON' on the left hand side, safety lever mounted to the right, walnut chequered straight hand butt-stock, iron heel-plate with trapdoor compartment, underlever forwards of the trigger-guard bow with looped terminal, chequered walnut splinter fore-end (cracked) with moulded horn tip and eyelets for sling, the whole stripped of finish
