A CASED PAIR OF 48-BORE PERCUSSION OVERCOAT PISTOLS, no visible serial numbers,
probably converted from flintlock circa 1830, with octagonal 6in. barrels, dovetailed fore-sights, border and scroll engraved hooked breeches, carved percussion fences with side bolsters, borderline and scroll engraved bar-action locks signed 'WILLMER, GRANTHAM', scroll engraved dolphin-headed hammers with sliding safes behind, walnut half-stocks with chequered bag-shaped butts, vacant white-metal oval escutcheons to the wrists and barrel keys, white-metal fore-end caps and iron under-barrel captive stirrup ramrods (one thimble loose but present on one pistol), iron surfaces lightly cleaned; TOGETHER WITH a period walnut storage case, compartmented and re-lined in green baize and containing a number of period but unassociated accessories including a flask (re-covered in leather), 'T' style nipple-key combination tool, incomplete loading rod (missing detachable handle) and a scissors ball-mould and complete with a purchase receipt for £450 in 1974
