Provenance: The makers have kindly supplied us with the following information:
"The above shotgun was made in 1906 and shipped to France. It is a 'Royal' grade self-acting ejector sporting gun and was purchased for the Greener Collection in 2005.
W W Greener self-acting ejectors were made from 1881 to the start of the 1st World War in 1914. When Harry Greener modified this ejector and provided it with jointed tumblers in 1894 to produce the 'Unique' ejector, self-acting ejector models still made alongside these. Arcaded fences, a gold crown on the top lever, fancy chequering and a concealed cross-bolt were features of most W W Greener Royal shotguns and rifles. The fine scroll and game scene engraving on this example has been executed by Perry.
The gun has been used for the last ten years by Graham Greener to shoot game in the United Kingdom"
Literature: The gun features in 'The Greener Collections - Collections of Guns, Animals, Birds and Memorabilia' by G. Greener, pages 94 and 95
Other Notes: A signed copy of Graham Greener's book 'The Greener Collections' is included in this Lot
