A GOOD BRITISH PATTERN 1897 OFFICER'S SWORD, UNSIGNED, serial no. 12138,
circa World War One, with straight 32in. spearpoint blade, shallow broad central blind fuller, the first two thirds of the blade etched with arabesques and scrolls together with 'GRV', pierced plated half-basket with rolled inner-guard, the basket pierced with scrolls, the cypher of George V and with applied white-metal Northumberland Fusiliers Volunteer cap-badge, wire-bound shagreen grip and chequered back-strap (some staining to inside guard), complete with its leather service knot and field-scabbard

Provenance: This sword was the former property of Captain T.R.A. Noyes, 5th Northumberland Fusiliers who was killed in action 1916
