A .300 (SHERWOOD) SINGLE-SHOT ROOK-RIFLE, MODEL 'TRANTER'S PATENT', serial no. 37001, circa 1900, with octagonal 26in. barrel (some pitting), matted top-flat, the two adjacent flats signed 'WILLIAM POWELL' and '13 CARRS LANE BIRMINGHAM' respectively, dove-tailed fore-sight, dove-tailed standing notch rear-sight with additional folding leaf, plain action (slight traces of colour) with right hand mounted side-lever opener, central hammer, walnut chequered pistol-grip butt-stock, iron heel-plate and chequered walnut splinter pull-off fore-end
