for 1878, with blued 4 1/2in. tapering barrel signed in two lines 'COLT'S PT FA MFG CO HARTFORD CT USA' over 'DEPOT 14 PALL MALL LONDON', the left side of barrel etched in a panel 'COLT'S DA 38', under barrel ejector-rod, solid colour-hardened frame with hinged loading gate, blued cylinder with long flutes, blued grip-straps and trigger-guard bow, chequered rosewood birdshead grips, the whole retaining much of its original colour and finish; TOGETHER WITH a framed Colt Heritage letter concerning the details of this revolver and a period leather full-flap holster
